# Cover Block | Website Manual

**Cover Block**

The Cover block puts text over a background image, video or colour.

If your site has a caching plugin, clear its cache too. There is usually a button for it in the bar along the top of the dashboard. Still the old version after a few minutes? Ask whoever looks after your site to clear the server cache.

### Good to know

The Cover block puts text over a background image, video or colour. It is often used for the large banner at the top of a page.

Because the words sit on the picture, contrast matters. A busy or pale photo can make white text hard to read, which is why the block lets you add a coloured overlay and change how strong it is.
