TL;DR

Save the videos you want someone to learn, open your Saved list and press Share list, then copy the link and send it. When they open it, they see the same videos in the same order and can add them to their own Saved list. There's no login, and no searching for what to watch.

Showing someone the ropes

When someone new starts looking after your website, the usual way is to sit beside them, or to send a long email full of “go to this, then click that”. A week later they’ve forgotten half of it, and you’re explaining it again.

Build the list once

  1. Open each video they’ll need and press Save for later. Tips can be saved too.
  2. Open Saved in the menu (or the Saved tab on the side of the page).
  3. Press Share list, then Copy link, and paste it into an email, a text or Teams.

Start with the jobs they’ll do in their first week. You can always send a second list later.

What they see

They open the link and see your list: the same videos, in the same order. One click adds them all to their own Saved list, so the next time they visit, the list is still there. Each video gets a Watched mark once they finish it, so they know where they’re up to.

That means no searching and no guessing what to watch first. Cool, I know. Coffee anyone?

Try it

Here’s a starter list with three first-week jobs: adding a page, putting it in the menu and setting a featured image. Open the starter list and see what your new team member would see.

Questions

Do they need an account or a login?

No. There's no account on Website Manual. Your saved list lives in your browser, and the share link carries the list with it.

Can I send the list some other way than a link?

Yes. Press Download list to save it as a small file, then email or attach it. They open their Saved page, press Upload list and choose the file.

Will I know which videos they've watched?

No, that stays in their browser. They will see a Watched mark on each video they finish, so they can keep track themselves.

What if they need a job that's specific to our site?

If you're a MerlinFX client, we can do the job on your own site and record it, so you get the task done and keep the video for training. Ask through Request a recording.
